Where I stand.

  • Balance the budget and freeze government spending. We must control spending and the growth of government. It is time to freeze federal spending other than that necessary for our national defense until we rein in government and balance the national budget.
  • Wage and win the War on Terror. We must protect our people and aggressively wage war against the Islamic terrorists who would do us harm. We must give our defense and intelligence communities every tool they need to protect us.
  • Treat our enemies like enemies. I would keep Guantanamo open instead of moving these enemies to the United States. We must treat terrorists like terrorists – not simple lawbreakers.
  • End illegal immigration. I would support a Constitutional amendment to simply state that “no one can become a citizen of the United States who enters our country illegally, nor can their children.” This would put an end to any discussion of amnesty or expectation by illegal aliens for amnesty in the future.
  • No new taxes. I would oppose any tax increases. I support the Fair Tax as a way to encourage job growth and personal wealth. Our current tax code and IRS regulations burden our families and businesses while armies of lobbyists exist for the sole purpose of manipulating federal regulations.
  • Set term limits. I would impose a three term limit on my own service and would support a Constitutional Amendment to limit the terms of Congress to three terms.
  • Oppose ObamaCare. The first rule of medicine is to “Do No harm.” The Obama plan would spend $985 billion that we do not have and would ultimately lead to the complete government takeover of health care. I oppose any plan that eliminates the best part of health care in America – the high quality of care given by the best trained medical professionals in the world. The Obama Plan would eliminate the direct relationship between doctor and patient and create a health care version of the welfare state where bureaucrats make decisions that are best made by families.
  • Join the new Republican majority. My hope and expectation is that in November there will be a new Republican majority in Congress. We squandered the opportunity the last time Republicans were in the majority and we need to do it right this time.
